I’m always on the lookout for gluten free bread and biscuit recipes that are easy to make and consistently bake up like they should. My gluten free cheddar, garlic, and chive biscuits fit the bill!
You see, gluten free baking tends to be part science experiment, part art project, and part..well, prayer that it works this time. There are days I can have fun experimenting, but when I need to get dinner on the table and feed my hungry guys, I need to know that the recipe works.
This one does!

And better yet, these biscuits are just plain good. They’re crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and really delicious. They’re actually kind of addictive. It’s a good thing they’re so easy to make!
Gluten Free Ingredient Options
You have a couple of options for the gluten free flour base, since different products are readily available in different areas. (You can also get either option from Amazon if you can’t find them in your local store!)
Your first option is Gluten Free Bisquick, which is super easy to use. It’s got all the ingredients in the mix, so you only have to measure out the correct amount, and all the other stuff is already added!

If you can’t find this (or don’t have any on hand), you can also use a gluten free all-purpose flour (I prefer Bob’s Red Mill 1 to 1 Baking Flour) mixed with a bit of almond flour, coconut flour, or millet flour. (I usually use almond flour, but wanted to give some other options in case of allergies or preference.)

Choose whichever flour base works best for you – I’ve tried them both, and they’re both delicious!

1 Tablespoon of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of Garlic powder

GARLIC TOPPING
1/2 cup of butter – melted
1/2 teaspoon of coarse ground garlic salt
Instructions:
In a large bowl, add the baking mix, sugar, garlic powder, and butter, and cut butter into the dry ingredients, just like you would for pie crust, and until it forms pea size particles.
In another bowl, add the half n half, cheddar cheese, chives, and eggs, and mix well, until the eggs are light and fluffy and well incorporated.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, and mix well until dough forms a ball.
Line a cookie sheet with Parchment paper, and drop the biscuits by the Tablespoonful onto the parchment paper, and bake at 425 for 8 to 10 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown
While biscuits are baking, melt the 1/2 cup of butter with the coarse ground garlic salt, and stir well, and set aside. When biscuits are done baking, remove from oven and brush garlic butter on tops of biscuits.
Garnish tops with additional shredded cheese and chopped chives. Serve and Enjoy!
