Recently I sent out an email asking my readers to describe their biggest struggles as homeschool moms. The responses were overwhelming. You guys, homeschool moms struggle, we can’t even argue about that. Guess what though; we seem to all struggle with the exact same things. It was with these responses in mind that I created the Homeschool Survival Series.
First, we struggle physically. Many days there simply isn’t enough of us to go around. We have the school work, the house, the laundry, and the meals all competing for our attention. It’s overwhelming on a good day and an avalanche on the worst. Almost all of us need help with organization and scheduling. Next, we struggle mentally. “Am I doing enough?” “Will my kids be weird?” “There’s no way I’m qualified.” We are HARD on ourselves. So many of the responses were merely MY doubts and fears being slung back at me.
So what is the Homeschool Survival Series?
It’s a mash-up of EVERYTHING we need to survive as homeschool moms, all broken down into theme weeks. The series will take place across all of my social media channels, as well as on the blog. Extra details and some helpful printables will be sent to my email subscribers. (I have a very special place in my heart for anyone who loves me enough to give me their email address. I mean, I’m super picky about who I let clutter my inbox.)
So what will the Homeschool Survivor Series schedule look like?
(Now let me say right here that this is what I HOPE to achieve. Let’s just all cross our fingers (and say a huge prayer) that I can pull all of this off!)
- Weeks 1 & 2 – Core Curriculum (Learning styles, Curriculum reviews, Choosing a curriculum)
- Week 3 – Organization (Organizing your Homeschool Life!)
- Week 4 – Schedules (Homeschool & Homemaking Schedules)
- Weeks 5 & 6 – Being a Homeschool Mom (balancing it all, taking care of you, & finding your tribe)
(I also have a Part 2 planned for this series that will deal with the homemaking aspect of a homeschool mom, but I feel like I should stop here for now, just so I don’t set myself up for failure.)
So what do you need to do?
First, make sure you are following me on social media & email. You can find all of that here:
- Facebook Page
- The Secret Society of Homeschool Moms Facebook Group (the gals over there are amazing)
- Email (I promise I won’t spam ya!)
Next, follow along and get involved. Have an idea that worked for you? Post it! We are all better together, and if we have any hope of surviving it will have to be together. I’m pretty sure the statement “It takes a village” was written JUST for the homeschool mom. So chime in, ask questions, and give any insight you might have.
So now it’s time to buckle up and get ready! Since it’s curriculum week be sure to start by downloading my FREE Homeschool Curriculum Planner, even if you already have your curriculum this will be a great tool to help you stay organized. You can also check out my Comprehensive Homeschool Guide for some great information.
