I’ll admit it. I love to go all out for Christmas. The decorations, recipes, and activities are kind of irresistible!
Christmas is when we can take a break from the everyday schedule and learn about other places and people, their culture and traditions. What can I say? Christmas around the World studies were a big deal at my house.

But there was something I was missing…something my son reminded me of in that sweet but profound way that only kids can.
“Why do we only focus on Christmas day? Aren’t we supposed to remember that Jesus is with us all year long?”
Out of the mouths of babes.
Now, don’t get me wrong. We still celebrate Christmas. I still decorate, we still cook like crazy, and we treasure our family traditions. But Christmas isn’t just about that one day, or even the month. It’s far more important than that.
Christmas is about Immanuel. “God with us.” He’s with us, among us, there for us to know better, each and every day.
That’s pretty incredible, and deserves way more than a day.
But how do you do that? It’s actually pretty easy. Here are some of our favorite ideas and resources!
Day by Day Kids Bible
Day by Day Kid’s Bible: The Bible for Young Readers (Tyndale Kids)Day by Day Begin-to-Read Bible (Tyndale Kids)
Foundations for Kids: A 260-day Bible Reading Plan for Kids
This was easily one of my son’s favorite Bibles. It’s written in a way that’s easy for kids to understand and apply, and the daily reading schedule helps them keep up! It’s a wonderful Bible to use for morning devotions or bedtime.

You’ve probably seen the coloring/journaling Bibles for adults. You may even have one – I love working in mine! The drawings tend to be too complex for little hands, though. Now there’s a Bible made just for tween to teen girls, designed to help them spend time in the Word and study it more deeply.
Art Projects
Art projects, like this one from Table Life Blog, can be a great conversation starter and devotional object lesson. It’s fun to do at Christmas time, but easy to add in all year long!

Daily Blessings
There are a lot of little ways you can teach your kids to hold Christmas in their hearts by blessing and encouraging others. In the middle of the daily rush, though, it can be hard to think of them! That’s why I’ve compiled a free printable for you to use. Just cut the strips apart, keep them in a cute jar, and pull one out for your kids to complete!

This giveaway would be a complete blessing to our family. We had to move out of state this year away from everyone for my husband’s. Job. A month after we got here they fired everyone and relocated. We have been scrambling to find another job and still survive. As scary as it is Christmas looks like less of a possibility everyday. This is not my children’s fault and I just want them to be happy.
Elizabeth, I’m so sorry to hear that! What a hard transition. Hoping that this is a blessing to you, and that more blessings come your way in the weeks to come!
