When I first became a homeschool mom, I had no idea what to expect. None. When I took that giant leap into homeschooling, I wasn’t sure if I was running a one-room schoolhouse, setting up a classroom at home, or taking an adventure into the unknown.
All I knew was that I didn’t have a clue what to do. I had a little boy who was eager to learn and a lot of people telling me I was nuts for trying, but that was about it.
What I really needed was for someone to come alongside and just say, “you’ve got this.” And I have a feeling I’m not alone!
You’ve Got This. Promise!
Eventually, some amazing friends did come alongside me, and I started to gain a lot more confidence in what I was doing. This was back in the day – I started homeschooling the year Facebook was born – so online homeschool support was still pretty limited.
Over the past 15 years though, an incredible community of online homeschool groups, blogs, and other resources has grown up, and it’s such a blessing! I’ve found so much encouragement and friendship through the homeschoolers and bloggers I’ve gotten to know, and I wanted to share a bit of that with you.
Feel free to come back to this post throughout the year whenever you need a bit of encouragement, or just need to know that someone “gets it.” I do. We do.

As an added encouragement, I would love to share with you a devotional journal I made a while back. When I feel like I’m organized and can conquer the world, I take some time to write in it – and when I need a bit (or a lot) of encouragement, I look back through it. I take some time to pray, put things in perspective, and be refreshed.
And the best part? Right now, it’s free! I just want you to be encouraged and start the year off strong.
